Recruitment predictions for 2010

Posted: Tue 15 Dec 2009

Change management, innovation and engagement are the key issues that recruiters must focus on to succeed in 2010 according to training and performance development specialist for the industry, Lander Associates.

With the economy predicted to pick up during the first half of next year, Lander says that recruitment consultancies need to take advantage of the increased business but have sensible and realistic plans for the medium term; and also that they need to review their service offerings for the changing times.
“Recruiters must listen to their customers”, says Managing Director Fiona Lander. “With the prolific use of online tools in business and in the recruitment industry today, recruitment organisations need to be innovative and think of new ways to offer their services. Current research (CIPD) shows that up to 40% of those good people you’ve retained throughout the downturn will be looking to move as the recruitment job market picks up – that means recruitment leaders really need to focus on engagement to keep their key talent.”
She continues, “If only we had a crystal ball! From listening to both experts and clients I expect the economy to pick up during the beginning of 2010 and then to stabilise – I think we still have a year or two before we’re completely out of this very tough recession.  With the situation constantly changing it’s the recruiters that are good at managing this change that will ultimately see their way through the year ahead.”
